Driven to Varanasi, a journey of approximately 6 hours.

En route we had a short stop to visit the hidden gem of Sasaram, to explore one of India’s finest Indio-Islamic tombs. The mausoleam of Sher Shah Suri, dates from the 16th century and is set on a small island in the lake. This exquisite tomb was built for Sher Shah Suri, a provisional warlord who defeated the great Mughal Emperor Humayun

Varanasi Sunrise To Sunset Tour. A dawn boat ride on the river Ganges, the holiest river in India. Headed back onto land for an insight into the colourful and lively holy city of Varanasi.

In the evening we returned to the river banks of the old city in the early evening to witness the aarti ceremony. The aarti is performed by a group of young priests as they chant holy prayers and perform sacred rituals using oil lamps in order to provide offerings to the holy river.

5.0 hour drive to Lucknow. On arrival taken to explore the Old Bazaar on a food tour, an opportunity to taste the authentic cuisine of the city and experience its vibrant street food culture.

Lucknow is famous for its Awadhi cuisine, which is a blend of Mughal and Indian culinary styles.

30 min transfer to Hardiwar where the banks are lined with ashrams, where saints and holy men rest before beginning their arduous pilgrimages. The town acquired prominence in the west when the Beatles visited to meet Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and began their quest for spiritual salvation.

Back to Rishikesh for the Ganga Aarti. This is an unforgettable spiritual experience, generally beginning at sunset and lasting for about an hour to an hour and a half.
