Dordogne

12 Jul Fri to 15 July. The Somme to the Dordogne

We gave our thanks to Julie and David and set off in pouring rain before 9 am. The journey had a predicted time of seven hours when we were dubious about how long we would sit in traffic jams around Paris. In the end it was not too bad and we arrived at the Gunns soon after 16.00.

It was quite cold that so we did not have a swim in the lake that night, but a very good meal as usual.

The next two days were spent mainly chatting with them. But Gaynor and I had a trip into La Coquille, where we looked around the new revamped charity shop and then had a coffee and bun at a café near a small lake.

Another day we had a 4 km walk to the old Apple orchards that have now been dug out near San Priest les Fougeres. Chris really enjoyed her swim in the lake on the two successive days and also enjoyed looking at the before and after photos of the Gunns' conversion of their house from a ruin, done between 1990 and 1996.
