On the boat en route to Ha Long Bay. A leisurely morning aboard the boat. mid morning we had a tour of the boat by Mayo, the purser, his English was better than that of the guide, so we enjoyed this. We visited the kitchen, the crew quarters , the cold room , the storage areas , the engine room and finished on the bridge with the very small captain steering the ship: all interesting.
After lunch we went ashore at a small village where we watched the puppet theatre for about half an hour: Dragons, Princess boats, water buffalo planting rice were all shown in this display which I could follow quite well with the binoculars.
Then we stopped at the side of the lake for a beer and some rice crackers: a serene setting. I had a siesta and then a shower before the usual cocktail and Tapas For the first time my main course was cold and then I felt very guilty as a chef had to be dragged up from down below to apologise to me . We enjoyed a coffee up on deck which we all to ourselves before watching the film Indochine
