Saturday January 18. And then we arrived at Chiclayo airport by 11.40 for our flight at 2:50. Our guide helped us to use the self check-in which was quite a task, but then we had to sit for an hour before we were allowed to go through to the departure lounge. The plane was delayed by an hour more, so it was a long painful wait.
The flight itself was uneventful and we got a Uber to the Lima country club, a small luxury hotel. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy this to the full , as I immediately climbed into bed in a feverish state and David had to look after himself for the night.

Sunday, January 19. Lima to Moraira. I was slightly better in the morning but unable to face food so we went without breakfast and got an Uber at 9 am to the airport. Here we were able to check in efficiently and had a wait in the business lounge, But this was a fairly dismal place anyway. The Iberia flight to Madrid was also delayed by almost an hour but once we had boarded and we were very pleased with our seats there although they were one behind the other..

I picked at my mail had a little cava and went to sleep, very soon waking up after about five hours, but still dozing for the rest of the way . As we got off the plane. David also had the bug. It was 3° C at Madrid but we did not have to stay out in the cold for long and connected quite quickly with our 7.35 flight to Alicante. Here it was 8° but we were soon in our warm car and speeding home to a very cold house in Moraira, as the heating control approved to be broken as we had left the house in mid December.
Next woke early, sorted ourselves out, and awaited the arrival of the window changers on the Tuesday morning
