Suanthip Vana TripAdvisor can only echo largely what earlier reviewers have said before: * Excellent and unpretentious (genuine) service. Better than many 5 star hotels/resorts. * Beautiful and extensive gardens/grounds. * Great pool (though the water can be very cold depending on the season you visit). * Food is delicious and excellent value for money - stick to the local specialities. * Unbeatable value for money - if your budget allows, stay in the Baan Pkakeryor villas (in beautiful Lanna style with great outdoor bathroom - better than most villas we have stayed in Bali for less half the price!) Four Seasons Tented Camp TripAdvisor 40 miles north of Chaing Rai. As previous reviews have mentioned, this is one of the seriously-amazing places in the world to go. Although I took many photos, they still cannot show the incredible attention to detail you find with everything (and the other guests I spoke to said exactly the same thing). The Hotels own web site

Puripunn TripAdvisor The hotel is ideal for those wishing to explore the city as it's so close to everything but yet once in the hotel you feel you're out in the suburbs. The night market is literally at 10mins walk away and there's some really nice restaurants as well close by. The staff were very attentive but also discreet enough at the same time to know when you wanted to be left alone. It's the small touches that make a holiday; a cool drink by the pool, books to browse on local culture and things to do. I can honestly say I never felt lonely or uncomfortable. Nothing was too much trouble.Hotels own web site & Bookings.com

Oriental Siam TripAdvisorWe stayed at Oriental Siam Resort for 3 nights and it was a beautiful experience. Pongsri and Peter were the best host we ever had. They were very helpful, caring and simply darlings. We all felt at home. Pongsri planned the itinerary for us beautifully and took care of everything right from planning what we were to do for 3 days to making bookings for us and arranging a luxury van for us.Bookings.com & Hotels own web site.

RarinJinda TripAdvisor The location was simply stunning, with fantastic views of the Ping River and just a walk to The Good View and Riverside, two of Chiang Mai's finest restaurants with live music nightly. The Deck 1 restaurant of the hotel was elegant and romantic. Though many other establishments boasts superior cuisine, you really can't beat the charming ambience and classy feel of the place. Rachamankha TripAdvisor Only four years old it looks as though it has been here for 400 designed in the style of a north Thailand temple with open squares, small courtyards and old fashioned style rooms with huge wardrobes and bathroom toiletries to die for. Even without my soap bag- still lurking in Bangkok- I was able to shower, shave and get myself ready for an evening ahead even if it was in the same clothes. Hotels own web site

Rimpling Village TripAdvisor Despite our very high expectation with this hotel after reading all the positive reviews (with a #2 ranking), we were still impressed by this hotel. The location is good. It’s outside the city wall on the other side of the river. It is nested in a quiet residential area. However it’s only a short 5-minute walk to night bazzar or a short tuk tuk ride to anywhere in Chiang Mai. Normally in Thailand I fear tuk tuks as many drivers try to rip you off, and I hate bargaining. But the staff at Ramping Village ordered multiple tuk tuks and negotiated a fair price for us during our stay. Hotels ownweb site & Bookings.com

Chedi TripAdvisor What sets this hotel apart is the absolutely superb service. And this service goes beyond the empty smile that some hotels tend to associate as a hallmark of service. Every staff member pays very close attention to the guests needs. Right from check in, the concierage, the restaurant staff, the pool attendents, etc, took special care to understand and help make our stay memorable. The rooms on the ground floor are the best as you get a patio that looks out into the garden. The rooms are well furnished. Hotels own web site

Mandarin Oriental TripAdvisor I cannot begin to describe how amazing a hotel this is. First of all, the people working there are some of the most hospitable, kindest employees I have come across in my life. From our airport greeting, to our greeting at check in, to the presentation of our room, to cocktails with the manager, everything was phenomenal. Hotels own web site

Kanchanaburi

Kanchanburi web site To get to Kanchanburi from Bangkok...

Bus
From the Southern Bus Terminal ("Sai Dai"), buses leave every 30min for Kanchanaburi, the last one departing at 10.30pm. The journey takes a little under two hours. Tickets for a standard air-con bus are 95 Th.Baht one way. This is by far the easiest way to get from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi!

Train
As the railway link between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi is only a local line, this is a journey to be undertaken only by the VERY brave! From Thonburi station in Bangkok, only 3rd class trains run along this route and the journey takes a staggering FIVE HOURS! Definition of 3rd class? - No windows, no fan, wooden seats, lots of chickens!

Taxi
The fastest, but most expensive way to get to Kanchanaburi! From any where in Bangkok, taxi drivers will be able to get you here in about 90 mins for anywhere between 1,000-3,000 Th.Baht, all depending on your bargaining skills!

Tin Tok Camp TripAdvisor We booked the 3D 2N Hintok river camp coded HTRC 202 via Asiaweb. It was an awesome trip. History came alive when we visited 2 war museums, the bridge over the river Kwai, the Kanchanaburi war cemetery, walked through the Hellfire Pass and took the train along the Death Railway. Our Hintok tour guide was very knowledgeable, he had spent years clearing the debris on the railway left after the war. We also enjoyed the eco aspect of the tour. I loved the boat trips on the river Kwai. being right next to the water, looking at the mountains & forests around you, feeling the cool wind & listening to the splashing water. Hotels own web site

River Kwai Jungle Rafts TripAdvisor We were unsure what to expect when Explore tour document said two nights in floating rafts with no electricity. What a setting, reached via speedboat up the river, arrived late afternoon, speedily allocated rooms, which were clean, and consisted of a double and a single bed. Both comfortable and with mossie nets. Bathroom ensuite with cold water, and western style toilet. No electriciity so you need torches, and you are supplied an oil lamp for each room and more are located along the outside walkway. No a/c obviously, so was quite humid. Food was good as was bar service.Hotels own web site

Oriental Kwai TripAdvisor The Oriental Kwai Resort was truly a Hidden Gem to us. We traveled all over Thailand and this place was definitely our favorite and the most relaxing time we had in Thailand (even compared to Samui). The rooms were gorgeous and very well furnished, the grounds were very well kept, the food was good and the staff provided polite and friendly service. The owners are always ready to help for everything little thing you may need. Hotels own web site

Hua Hin

Putahracsa TripAdvisor If I had died and gone to heaven, this must be it! Without doubt this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in ever, and that's been a lot. The rooms were spacious and contemporary and truely elegant. The pool area and the reception area and the restaurant were simply fab and the staff were pretty brilliant too. Little way up the road which meant it took 5 minutes to walk to the night market, but it was quiet and not busy so much better. Absolutely brilliant hotel, couldn't rate it high enough, especially for romantic breaks. There is a free hotel Tuk Tuk into the town centre (about 5-10 mins walk or 3 mins in a Tuk Tuk).Hotels own web site

Aleenta TripAdvisor We chose this hotel based on the fact that it was #1 on TripAdvisor and booked the beachfront Palm Suite. The hotel is truly very small, with fewer than 20 rooms, and all are set on the beach front. In terms of the beach, the view, the privacy, I have no complaints - it was lovely and relaxing. No TV Hotels own web site

Rest Detail TripAdvisor The hotel is brilliant, the staff are attentive but not intrusive, the outside areas of the hotel are lovely and the food in the restaurant is great. The beach behind the hotel provides a great sea view but it wasn't really suitable for sunbathing..the pool area is so lovely, i don't know why anyone would choose the beach over it anyway! Hotels own web site

Anantara TripAdvisor The Hua Hin beaches are not, in my opinion, for beach lovers. We walked them a few times for quite some distance in both directions and enjoyed these walks, but they do not appeal as a beach to spend time on a lounger. In fact there are no loungers on the beach at Anantara. The main swimming pool is lovely. Good temperature, fairly large, some shaded areas, a swim-up bar, good variable depth and some water jets(jacuzzis) in one area. We had no problems getting a sunbed and the hotel towels were plentiful.Hotels own web site

AKA Resort TripAdvisor Guided by reviews on Trip Advisor and swayed by their SLH and Hip Hotel status, we booked ourselves into this delightful resort. It was indeed very private and luxurious. The things we particularly liked about it were: the privacy of our own villa & pool, the food at the restaurant was excellent, the outdoor bath and shower, the serenity and the staff were friendly. Koh Chang

Dewa TripAdvisor Beautifully designed to provide contemporary luxury, whilst not being obtrusive. We stayed in a villa, which was beautiful, and very private, but the hotel type rooms, seemed well designed and just as lovely. The staff definitely treat you like a VIP, and are polite, discrete and helpful. The only negative was the price of the dinner bbq. I would recommend walking down the beach where you'll find the same food on offer for half the price. We also looked at the other luxury hotels in the area and none compare to the Dewa it's in a class of it's own. Hotels own web site

Koh Samet

Paradee TripAdvisor The beach is fantastic - powder white sand. Villas are very spacious - huge beds, great rainforest shower, nice living area, very spacious bathroom, nice outdoor area. Pools are a decent size. Slight downside is the lack of complete privacy but not a big issue. The food was outstanding - great service. The afternoon tea is a really nice touch (great cakes!). Overall, by far the best on Koh Samet and the setting and standard of the villas make it a great choice for a relaxing, romantic getaway. Hotels own web site (Tr Loc)

Koh Samui

Miskawaan Villas TripAdvisor We were fortunate enough to stay in some amazing places but I have to say this place topped them all! I tend to read behind the lines on trip advisor but I have to say that the reviews regarding this place are spot on. Everything about these villas are amazing - the staff, the privacy, the location, the attention to detail. If you want a rock star yet bling free place to stay, this is it. It is worth every penny, plus you don't get a feeling of being ripped off as you do when you stay in a hotel (when you add up all the extras the hotel tends to charge). Hotels own web site

Anantara TripAdvisor With each of the rooms facing in towards the gardens and the view of the pond that ran the length was breathtaking. The infinity pool on the edge of the beach made for a relaxing swim when it got too hot. The rooms were also well taken care of and we found the deep bath tub very relaxing. Overall the staff was all very friendly and really tried to make our stay welcoming. As for proximity to the Fisherman’s Village, the walk from Anatara only took us 20 minutes. (A small street filled with bars, restaurants, and shops). Hotels own web site

Ban Sabai Sunset TripAdvisor What an amazing place to stay. The service at Ban Sabai is 1st class. The staff will do anything for you. The hotel manager gets to know every guest on a first name basis. The rooms are serviced twice a day. We stayed in the Sunset room and it was amazing. The room's facilities are superb. The restaurant is very nice and the food is ok. There is a good seectin of food, but there are also a few other restaurants near by to use. The pool is very nice and the Open jacuzzi is well worth it. The SPA facilities are amazing and well worth a visit. Hotels own web site

Bo Phut TripAdvisor We stayed in a beachfront villa with its own well kept front garden right on the beach. Outside there were our own sun loungers, an outside covered plunge bath with its own sun loungers (to dry off). The hotel proper with bar, restaurants and swimming pool was a few yards away. Close enough to ensure prompt service from the ever willing friendly staff but far enough away to be exclusive. The room was breath taking with all the finest fittings and electronic equipment you could desire. As a change from the excellent food from the hotel, just a short walk away can be found Fishermans Village. Hotels own web site

Kamalaya TripAdvisor Kamalaya is a unique place. It is its own destination. Removed from Chaweng and the crowded beaches further up on the island it was a nice place to relax and really have a real vacation. The food/restaurant was excellent. it is rare to find food that is both healthy and tasteful. I miss the natural, healthy food! The pool and the cafe/lunch area was set up really beautifully - little bungalows overlooking the beautifully designed pool. Hotels own web site

Karma TripAdvisor The villa's are out of this world! Our pool had an amazing sea view, the pool was huge, I had expected a plunge pool. It was cleaned every other day. The kitchen/dinner was huge and having the utility room was handy, I managed to wash all our clothes before we left. The villa's are cleaned twice a day, they even change the water in the kettle! We have stayed in many 5 star resorts, this was one of the most impressive. You do really get the best of both worlds, all the conveniences of a hotel, but with a fully equiped villa Hotels own web site

Sala Samui TripAdvisor The pool and restaurant area in Sala is really beautiful. There are two large pools and what I liked was that you could have sunbeds on the beach and still be so close to the pool. The restaurant in sala offers a wide variety of food and the quality of the food was excellent. We did not find the restaurant expensive at all. Hotels own web site

Sarann TripAdvisor This resort is located on the Chaweng Noi beach, of course it's not much lively as the famous Chaweng Beach. However it took us only 10 minutes by car to bustling Chaweng Beach. The resort is brand new. We stayed in Jacuzzi villa, really enjoyed in room amenities - very comfortable bed, spacious open bathroom, and of course the outdoor whirlpool jacuzzi. Good varieties in-room TV programs - LCD TV 32 inches. It was a truly relax holiday with us.Hotels own web site

Kala Samui TripAdvisor When I first reached the resort i was not very impressed with it, but in no time I found it to be a very cozy place with a lot of peace quiet, great view from where ever I was , the food was good , the fact that breakfast was avaiable all day really suited me, a nice beach just 5 min walk from the resort, the spa experince was one of he better I have had in Thailand. Hotels own web site

Zazen TripAdvisor All the rooms are absolutely amazing especially the beachfront ones, the food is by far the best food on the island and worth every penny. The pool is lovely, the beach is lovely, the whole place is just absolutely lovely and makes you feel relaxed Hotels own web site

Sandalwood Villas TripAdvisor it really does live up to to the expectations of previous reviews on this website. Stayed in the malee villa, what tremendous views of the sea. A couple of steps downstairs and we were at the infinity pool, really nice pool which almost felt private as only 3 of the villas really use it! service was excelent for breakfast lunch and dinner which we ate every day in the restaurant. Food while not excellent was very good and did us perfectly for the few days. No the best place to stay if your planning on venturing outside of the hotel too much as it is situated on top of an extremely steep hill and a taxi or hotel transfer is necessary to go anywhere. Although you will see that if you stay here there is no need to leave the hotel as everything you need is in it! Hotels own web site

Krabi

Rayavadee TripAdvisor We loved the location of Rayavadee you could walk just 100 yards down the beach and find it swarming with travellers it was great to mix with them and have a few drinks in the bars. Then just walk back to the luxery of Rayavadee. Hotels own web site

Tubkaak TripAdvisor The accomodation was superb, we had a view over the pool and an outside bath which was huge! The resort itself was quiet as it is low season but that was nice as we had the pool to ourselves most days. The beach has wonderful views accross to James Bond Island and is a lovely setting for sunset and evening meals. The sea was not that refreshing when we were there - like a hopt bath but none the less it was clean and calm. The food was amazing! Some poeple have said it is expensive but for what you get I thought it was value for money. Our night out on the hotels shuittle bus to the nearest town was good to get some change of scenery Hotels own web site (Tr Loc)

Nakamanda TripAdvisor Nakamanda is built on a hillside gently sloping down to a beach. On the beach level is a huge and beautifully designed swimming pool surrounded by stone walls, lotus pools, cascading water, and various artefacts. It is the focal point of the base level of the resort where the fine restaurant, incongruously called The Kitchen, is also located. Other levels include the Thai themed salas, a spa, library, gym, and reception at the top Hotels own web site

Amari Vogue Resort TripAdvisor The room and the views were simply amazing! Located on the top floor of the left wing (as you face reception), the room has sweeping views of Phang Nga bay and the Hong Islands (check the photos) along with a sun lounge, setting for two, and a glorious terrazzo Jacuzzi on the balcony! Hotels own web site (Tr Loc)

Koh Lanta

Layana TripAdvisor T he resort is very small, just 50 rooms, but very well planned out; if you are expecting the opulence and brash style of some Middle Eastern large hotels, then be prepared as this is on a much smaller scale, in traditional Thai style. The whole resort is very well designed; the beach and infinity pool are lovely, and the gardens which the standard rooms face on to are beautiful; the whole place is kept immaculate by the staff, brushing up leaves and generally tidying each day, and the room service was excellent. Hotels own web site

Koh Racha

Racha TripAdvisor I visited this amazing hotel in December for our honeymoon. This place is a must for everyone who wants to relax in an amazing environment far away from the world. Since we left there are many times that we have logged in their website and dream that we are still there. The staff is very friendly and always there to help you which is something that you do not find it in big hotel chains where you are treated like a number. The food was very good maybe a little pricey but hey you know that already before you go. The words are not enough to describe the location, the beach the staff and the rooms. Hotels own web site

Six Senses (Koh Yao) TripAdvisor This is a truly beautiful hotel and has the wow factor as soon as you walk through the front door. It is tastefully furnished and decorated throughout - stylish without being ostentatious. The staff are really lovely and friendly which gives this 5* hotel a down to earth feel so you can feel completely relaxed. The pool area is excellent (although water a bit cold!) and you can swim for ever in the bigger pool. Plenty of comfy sunbeds with lots of parasols to go around, no matter what time you arrive. Hotels own web site

Paradise (Koh Yao) TripAdvisor As stated the location is fabulous if you want an 'away from it all' break. However the tides are important; they need to be high tide during 'beach' time if you are to gain the visual beauty of the beach and the overall setting. If not you will be faced with mud and dead grey/brown coral - due to the earlier tsuami I gather. The other problem is "bites"; mosquitos; midges, sea-lice and other unmentionables in bedrooms and not outside the mosquito netting either Hotels own web site (Tr Loc)

Phi Phi

Island Resort TripAdvisor The resort itself is spectacular, gorgeous, remote, romantic. It has the finest beach in Thailand and one of the most beautiful pools. Their service is quite good though pretty inflexible. The rooms, or villas, are just beautiful and kept clean and cool. Not much that hasn't been said about that here. The village behind the resort really makes this resort worth visiting. It combines the beauty and wonder of the resort itself with good food, laundry and excursions at really reasonable prices. You get to the little village (which the resort conveniently does not mention) either by going through two different exits which are marked staff only Hotels own web site

Zeavola TripAdvisor he hotel is rustic, ethnic and totally beautiful. The resort has been designed with unique individuality, panache, sympathy and style to its natural surroundings. Whilst very luxurious there is still a "no news no shoes" feel and the dress code is very informal creating a very relaxed atmosphere. The beach is superb with iridescent white sands and clear calm waters. The food and service in the hotel is great. We had a garden suite which was fantastic with outside shower and was beautifully furnished. The pool area was lovely despite their website not portraying this. Hotels own web site (Tr Loc)
