A trip I really enjoyed around Western Australia. Landing at Perth, we picked up a car and drove through the night to Wave Rock. Then up to the old Gold Fields at Kalgoorlie, where it was 40 degrees and you could have fried an egg on the outside of the car.
It is fairly desertlike until one gets to the southern coast. These are cold Antarctic waters that were the home of whaling fleets in days gone by, and now carry very small, but friendly populations. We stayed in B&Bs , getting a recommendation for the next place 3 or 4 hours drive further on
Eventually we got to the wine country of Margaret River, and from there back to Freemantle and Perth
